A town of Canton barn fire that destroyed hundreds of hay bales and some machinery may have been intentionally set.

Fire investigators now believe the Wednesday night fire on Barnes Road is suspicious in origin and not the result of spontaneous combustion or a lightning strike.

The barn is owned by Janet Favro and was covered by insurance.

Close to 900 bales of hay were destroyed.

The barn was engulfed in flames by the time volunteers from more than seven fire departments arrived on the scene.
