Behling's Spookhill Farms Is Back!

Mike Behling is back where he belongs at the helm of Behling's Spookhill Farms store in Adams Center.

"This is the place I ought to be.  I grew up in it and I love it," he said.

Behling sold the shop on Route 11 five years ago after more than 30 years in business.

Behling wanted to pursue other interests.

But when the last owner went into foreclosure, Behling couldn't resist re-opening despite some reservations.

"When you come back after 5 years will people still remember you?  Will customers come back," he said.

Well, they are coming back.

The store saw a steady stream of customers coming in to buy flowers Thursday afternoon.

Customers are happy to have things back the way they used to be.

"It just means old home, the way it used to be, part of us, the way we started out, go to Behling's every spring," said customer Ellen Zapf.

"It's exactly how it was before...That's a great thing," said customer Diana Smith, Behling's Customer

Behling says his first weekend back was a big success and he knew it from the reaction by his former customers.

"I had 3 ladies come over and hug me.  I'm not much of a hugger, but it was really nice!  It made me feel really good," he said.

Right now Behling's is selling mostly flowers, but will have plenty of produce available this summer.
