'Better Arts' Hosts Fundraiser, Open House

The non-profit organization 'Better Arts' held its first-ever open house fundraiser Saturday.

Located in the Jefferson County village of Redwood, 'Better Arts' offers workshops for novices and experts in both music and art.

Officials say events like this one allow for them to offer the workshops to the public free of charge, and pay teachers a fair wage.

"I think it's important to bring the arts to people because it's enriched my life greatly and given me a sense of belonging," said Better Arts teacher Brian Purwin.

Upcoming workshops include classes on African drumming and an introduction to painting.
