Big Changes For Watertown's City Center Plaza

Tools

You may know City Center Plaza in downtown Watertown for places like Papa Johns and a video game store.

But,  the inside of the mall has been vacant for years.

That's all about to change.

Washington Street Properties, one of the owners of the Lincoln Building in downtown Watertown, purchased the plaza last summer and will move seven businesses inside.

"The floors needed to be cleaned, there needed to be new ceiling tiles, new lights and and we started teaming up with some of the local businesses to create a new destination location for activities," said Alison Williams, CEO of Washington Street Properties.

One of the destination locations is Rhonda's FooteWorks.

Rhonda Foote is currently teaching dance at her studio in the Lincoln Building, but she is excited about moving to hew new studio.

"Our main studio will be 3 times the size of our existing studio. Our enrolled students are very excited about possibility for choreography," said Foote.

Business owners say they're excited about the move.

"It's gonna be pretty cool being in a little mini mall where there's a lot of foot traffic rather than people coming in off the street," said Christopher Dillon of BeyondNerd.

Alison Williams says she expects to have a grand opening of the mall in October.
