Bike Race Supports South Jeff Squad Building Fund

The South Jefferson Rescue Squad hosted its third annual Heart Bike Race in Adams Sunday.

It's a way to raise money for expanding its ambulance facility.

Fifty riders raced to cross the finish line after biking either five or 20 miles.

The organization says all the money will go toward its new project.

"We anticipate doing a building expansion and adding some bays and some meeting rooms," said Debbie Singleton, the squad's executive director.

"The fundraisers that we do are helping to offset that cost," she said.

The race was a family affair, with many parents biking along with their kids.
