Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation Of Canton High School

Canton High School was evacuated Thursday for a time after a bomb threat was found scribbled on a bathroom wall.

According to a news release from the school, Principal Mark Passamonte was informed of the threat by a student.

The school was evacuated while law enforcement agencies responded.

Assisted by two bomb sniffing dogs, officers from the Canton Police Department, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and the New York State Police conducted a search of the building. 

No threat was found. 

Following the search, faculty, staff, and students were permitted to reenter the building and resume classes.

The matter has been turned over to the Canton Police Department for investigation.
