The vehicle involved in an early Friday morning accident that closed a section of Route 11 for several hours was reported missing.

Police say they are searching for the driver of the vehicle, which skidded off Route 11 near the intersection with Waddingham Road and broke a utility pole.

The vehicle landed in a field and caught fire. The 2004 Dodge Durango was reported missing at 11 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the driver might have serious injuries.

A northbound tractor-trailer traveling by a few minutes later became entangled in fallen power lines, causing power to go out in that area. The driver, 42 year old Bruce Hecker of Cassville, N.Y., was not injured.

Live wires trapped Hecker inside the rig until crews were able to cut power.

The accident happened around 4:45 a.m. No injuries have been reported.

The highway was closed between state routes 342 and 26. It reopened shortly after noon.

Sheriff's deputies were seen searching the area.

Power was knocked out in the immediate area, including traffic lights as far away as the Route 342 intersection.

Evans Mills, Calcium and Fort Drum fire departments were at the scene, along with crews from National Grid and Verizon.
