Businesses Prepare For Downtown Parking Crunch

Businesses in downtown Watertown are preparing for a parking problem this summer.

A kiosk has been added to the parking lot at the Key Bank building on Washington Street.

The Dulles State Office Building is set to shut down its parking garage for renovations this summer, putting parking at a premium.

Officials with the Key Bank building say adding extra security is a necessary move.

"With the state office building closing and the shortage we anticipate in parking downtown, there's going to be a lot of pressure on all the parking," said property manager Don Coon, "so we're going to have someone down here keeping an eye on things five days a week."

Officials say they plan to have a security guard manning the kiosk by June 1.
