Camp Volunteer Drowns Near Saranac Lake
A 19 year old volunteer at an Adirondack youth camp drowned over the weekend in Upper Saranac Lake.
State police say Keenen Green of Rochester was swimming with friends at a spot commonly known as the "Point" when he became distressed in roughly 10 feet of water about 15 feet from shore.
His companions were unable to rescue him and he disappeared underwater.
Green was found on a rock a short time later. Police say he was unresponsive.
He was pronounced dead at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Green volunteered at the Young Life Adirondack Camp and was at the town of Harrietstown facility to help prepare it for the upcoming season.
