Canadian Sub Travels Seaway

It's not often you see a submarine on the St. Lawrence Seaway.

The decommissioned Canadian submarine HMCS Ojibwa was photographed Sunday as it made its way through a lock, perched atop a barge.

It's traveling to Hamilton, Ontario, where it will spend the summer on display at the Heddle Marine Shipyard before moving to her final destination, the Elgin Military Museum of Naval History in Port Burwell, on the north shore of Lake Erie.

The submarine served Canada and NATO through the Cold War until she was decomissioned in 1998.

She'll undergo extensive restoration this winter and should be open for public tours next year.
