Canton Central School Evacuated

A bomb threat found scribbled on the wall of a middle school bathroom stall forced the evacuation of Canton Central School Friday afternoon.

Students assembled on the school's football field behind the school as village police searched the buildings and found no explosive device.
School Superintendent William Gregory told 7 News a middle school student discovered the threat in the boys bathroom.

The threat read "Bomb 1:30."

The student notified his teacher, who in turn alerted administrators.

The buildings were then evacuated as a precaution.

Students were moved to the bus garage for transportation home or released to their parents at the regular dismissal time.

The matter was turned over to the Canton Police Department for investigation.

All evening and weekend activities at the school will resume as scheduled.
