A 25 year old Canton man is accused of driving drunk, striking a woman and leaving the scene of the accident.

Village police charged Dustin Rookey of 38 Pollock Road with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian.

According to police, 18 year old Emily Baldwin, a St. Lawrence University student, was crossing Park Street at a marked crosswalk, when she was hit by a pickup truck.

Baldwin was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A short time later, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies located the pickup truck on Route 11 near DeKalb Junction.

Rookey was arrested.

Police said his blood alcohol content was .12 percent.

The legal limit for driving is .08 percent BAC.

Rookey was released and ordered to appear in Canton Town Court at a later date.
