Canton Man Faces Charges Following Domestic Assault

A Canton man faces charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman who lived with him.

Canton village police say 23 year old James Regan of Gouverneur Street was charged with obstruction of breathing and second degree assault, both felonies.

He was also charged with second degree unlawful imprisonment, second degree harassment and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police say the incident was reported May 14 and Regan was arrested Friday.

He was arraigned in Canton town court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail with bail set at $3,000.

The victim, who was issued an order of protection,  suffered serious injuries to her right eye and left shoulder.
