Canton Man Going To Prison For Writing Bad Checks

A Canton man has been sentenced to 2 to 4 years in state prison for writing more than $6,000 worth of bad checks.

Mark Buffham, 40, of Pollack Road was sentenced in Franklin County Court as a second felony offender.

He pleaded guilty to first-degree scheme to defraud.

Buffham wrote ten checks on a closed account to purchase tools in Malone and Chateaugay.
 
He had originally been charged with six counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree scheme to defraud and petit larceny. 

Buffham served close to three years in prison for a 1999 conviction of third-degree sodomy involving a two teenage girls.
