Carthage Man Faces Drug Charges After Accident

A 22 year old Carthage man faces drug charges following an accident in St. Lawrence County.

Sheriff's deputies said Alex Widrick of 10404 Second Road overturned his car as he drove on State Highway 58 in the town of Fowler Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said he was unhurt and had been wearing his seat belt.

During their investigation of the accident, deputies said they found Widrick in possession of marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms and 9 hypodermic needles, including one containing an opiate.

Widrick was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument, unlawful possession of marijuana and moving from lane unsafely.

He was arraigned in Fowler Town Court and sent to the county jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $10,000 bond.

Widrick was released after posting bail.
