Alleged Check Theft, Forgery Lands Woman In Jail

A town of Lyme woman was jailed after she allegedly stole, forged and cashed a check.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies say 25 year old Ashley House allegedly stole a check from the checkbook of a fellow town of Lyme resident.
 
Deputies say she wrote the check out to herself for $50, forged the owner's name, and cashed the check.
 
Deputies say it happened in late December and early January.
 
She was charged with petit larceny, second degree forgery and second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
 
She was arraigned and ordered held in jail on $250 bail.
