Chili Cook-Off Heats Up Watertown's State Office Building

It may have been chilly outside, but there was plenty of chili to warm people up inside Saturday at Watertown's Dulles State Office Building.

Nearly 35 vendors were on hand at the 14th annual Chili Cook-Off serving up bowls of everything from veggie and prime rib to five-alarm chili.

Proceeds from the event go to the Volunteer Transportation Center, a program that provides rides for military veterans, the elderly and the disabled.

"The phone never stops ringing," said cook-off organizer Shelia Barney-Puulus. "It's all the time."

"The phone rings all the time," she said. "They've had to expand. There is such a need in this area. It's incredible."

The top chili this year in the professional category was booth number 36, the Spicy Wench Chili prepared by chef Boo Wells.
