It's Christmas a few months early to help out children in need.

Matt Gump was on 7 News This Morning to talk about Christmas in August, an event that will help St. James Church in Carthage collect toys to give away during the holidays.

It's from 1 to 9 p.m. August 30 in Carthage Park and benefits the church's Angel Tree program.

Admission is an unwrapped toy.

A poker run starts at 9 a.m. Then, there's a cruise-in, bands, vendors and food.
