City-Owned Property May Go Back on Auction Block Jan. 8

Watertown lawmakers will consider a resolution to put the Fort Drum Vehicle Storage Building back on the auction block at Monday night's City Council meeting.

This, after the original high bidder on the city-owned West Main Street property, Ruby Williams, failed to close on the purchase by the deadline last week. In doing so, Williams forfeited her $12,500 deposit.

Now, city staff are recommending that a second public auction by held on January 8th.

Whoever buys it has to agree to bring it up to code within a year, or the city can seek to take it back.
