People can vote once each day. Voting for the final round ends at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Voting last week narrowed the field down to 30 and now it's down to 10 finalists.

As of shortly after noon Thursday, Gagnon was in second place, trailing the leader by 90 votes.

The Elite 89 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships.

The recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Hockey Championship, Gagnon is a fourth-year graduate student at Clarkson.

She finished her undergraduate degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship during her junior year with a 3.95 average and is currently one of only two students to maintain a perfect 4.0 in Clarkson's MBA program.
