Clarkson Partnership Puts University on Cutting Edge Of Water Quality Monitoring

A new partnership will help put Clarkson University on the cutting edge of water quality monitoring.
 
The university will soon become home to its first green data center in the historic Old Main building thanks to a shared $1 million shared research award between with IBM and the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries.

The building will be renovated to house a research and development center where continuous monitoring of data from the Hudson, St. Lawrence  and Mohawk rivers.

"It is the most critical resource we have," said Clarkson University President Dr. Anthony Collins.

The state-of-the-art data center is being designed to also capture waste heat from computer servers to naturally heat the building.
