Clarkson Professor Honored For Oil Spill Study

By WWNY Staff

The federal Department of Interior has honored Clarkson University professor Poojitha Yapa with its director's award for his work during the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

Yapa developed a computer model that was used to predict the flow of oil and natural gas released into the Gulf of Mexico after last year's oil platform explosion. That incident ruptured an underwater well, creating a huge oil slick.
