Clarkson University Student Arrested On Drug Charges

A 22 year old Clarkson University student faces drug charges after Potsdam village police raided the fraternity where he lives.

Police arrested Shawn Innes of Bainbridge, New York, on the following charges:

- third-degree criminal sale of marijuana
- second-degree criminal possession of marijuana
- fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Following an investigation into the sale of marijuana in the Potsdam area, drug investigators from the Potsdam Police Department working with the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Innes' residence at the Delta Tau Tau fraternity house on Elm Street in the village.

Officials said investigators seized approximately two pounds of marijuana, $11,000 cash, a quantity of concentrated marijuana (hashish), scales, packaging equipment, a police scanner, smoking devices and other items associated with the trafficking and distribution of narcotics.

Following Innes' arraignment, he was released to probation supervision.

Police said more charges are pending.
