Clayton Hotel Deal Finally Closed

It has taken years, but putting a hotel on the old Frink site in Clayton is finally a done deal.

Krog Corporation signed a $2.1 million agreement with Clayton for the use of the Frink site.

The town and local development corporation have been working on bringing some sort of attraction to the site since Frink Snowplows shut its doors in 2000.

Krog agreed to build a hotel there, but Clayton felt the hotel construction company was moving too slowly.

Officials reopened a selection process in September and they say that lit a fire under Krog.

"Opening the opportunity up for other developers to present us with a proposal certainly increased everybody's interest and awareness in our desire to select a developer and sell the property," said town Supervisor Justin Taylor.

Krog plans to build a $23 million facility that includes a luxury hotel and townhouses.

The project should be finished in spring of 2014.
