Coming Thursday: Time Warner To Move WWNY, WNYF
If you're a Time Warner subscriber and a regular viewer of WWNY (CBS) or WNYF (Fox), Thursday is moving day.
That's assuming you're watching the high definition feeds of the stations, the ones at 855 (WWNY) and 868 (Fox).
The cable company is grouping stations and channels by genre, putting all "local" stations together, all "entertainment" together, and so on.
"Our hope is to organize this in a more intuitive way, so that our customers can easily find what they're looking for all in one place," said Joli Plucknette-Famen, a Time Warner cable spokeswoman.
For WWNY, this means we can be found starting Thursday on channel 102 or 1205 - either channel will work.
WNYF will appear on on channel 103 and 1210.
(Detail for anyone who's interested: the 102-103 channels are in the "entertainment" group and the 1205-1210 channels are in the "local" group.)
And if you still watch WWNY on channel 4 in Jefferson and Lewis counties, or channel 7 in St. Lawrence County, nothing changes. Ditto for WNYF, which will still appear on channel 2.
The bottom line?
"Channel 7 and Fox 28 will be available in three locations in Time Warner's system. They'll still be the same signal," said Jim Corbin, WWNY/WNYF program director.
