Community Bank Buys West Carthage Hotel In Auction
A bank has become the new owner of a hotel in West Carthage.
Community Bank foreclosed on the Pleasant Night Inn earlier this year.
At a foreclosure auction Tuesday morning in Watertown, the bank was the only bidder, at a little more than $1.3 million.
Community Bank officials say it will keep the hotel open as it looks for a new buyer.
"Our goal is to keep the property running," said Community Bank Vice President Michael Brassard.
"We've been successful in that since the end of August under the receiver's control and going forward we do not want the place to close," he said.
Brassard says the hotel is viable, but needs more guests.
