A 90 year old World War II Navy veteran will be among those honored during Thursday's Orchestra of Northern New York Summer Pops Concert at SUNY Potsdam's Hosmer Hall.

Charlie Alexander was among the troops involved in D-Day landings on the Normandy beaches 70 years ago.

He considers himself among the lucky ones after making 14 landings in Normandy helping secure the beachhead to protect the hospital that treated wounded American and allied troops.

Alexander, a retired Canton postal worker, says he's looking forward to Thursday's concert performance by the Orchestra of NNY that will feature numerous Independence Day favorites.

"That's going to be one of the greatest days of my life. I love that music," said Alexander.

Thursday's Salute to Veterans Pops Concert will begin at 7 p.m. At Hosmer Hall.
