Contamination Cleanup Underway At Ogdensburg Site
The cleanup of contaminated groundwater and soils from a former manufactured gas plant site on King Street in Ogdensburg is underway.
The 10 King Street property was used from 1854 until at least 1930 to manufacture gas through a coal carbonization process.
National Grid is responsible for doing the voluntary remediation work.
Included among the subsurface contaminants that are being removed are benzene toluene and cyanide.
Once the site is cleaned up, the property will be used for residential, commercial and industrial purposes.
