Cool Weather Dampens Pool Turnout

If the weather doesn't exactly put you in the mood to go swimming, you're certainly not alone.

Only a handful of youngsters showed up to the pool at the Watertown Fairgrounds Tuesday.

On a sunny and hot day, you'll typically see 100 or more swimmers.

Even without a of people in the pool, the full staff of lifeguards had plenty of other things to do.

They said it was a great day to take a dip.

"The water is actually a lot warmer than you would expect," said pool supervisor Jessica VanCoughnett.

Except when there's lightning or extremely heavy rain, the pool is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily for the rest of the summer.

The Flynn municipal pool at North Elementary School is expected to open Wednesday.
