Copenhagen Church Marks Palm Sunday With Unusual Service

Grace Episcopal Church in Copenhagen celebrated Palm Sunday in a unique way.

Members of the church marched through the streets of Copenhagen with a donkey.

The procession commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. And, according to scripture, Jesus rode a donkey.

Organizers say the procession is a Copenhagen tradition.

"So, we go, we process, we wave our palms, we remember Jesus coming into Jerusalem," the Rev. Holly Evans said.

"Then, when we come to the front door of the church, we end with a prayer."

The donkey had to stay outside after the prayer, but everyone else went inside to continue the service.
