Copenhagen School Decorated With Car Part Art

When you look under the hood, you might not see your car's true potential.

But, Jeff Mann of Kingston, Ontario, sees it.

He's a car parts artist.

Mann won a state grant to mount his car part art quilt frames at Copenhagen Central School.

Clutches are his favorite because they have a lot of funky springs.

"And, I've got automotive transmission rings and they come in all styles and shapes," he said.

Mann enlisted students to help mount the car parts and paint them after a little explaining.

"I was confused at first because he said it was going to be a quilt made out of auto parts," said 5th grader Emili Scholler.

Mann wants to make a point - art really is in the eye of the beholder.

"It's not just something that's on a wall. It's in a junkyard and that's not where people normally think of art," he said.

Those junkyards are happy to help.

"They're like, what? Huh? Yeah, help yourself," said Mann.

The car part quilt frames are at the school to stay - at least until they rust out.

As your car goes, so goes car part art.
