Coroner Says Body Found in Massena Unidentifiable

St. Lawrence County Coroner Jamie Sienkiewycz says the body found on Friday afternoon in the town of Massena has decomposed too much for him to identify.

Sienkiewycz says he hopes the sex, age, and more distinguishing features can be discovered when an autopsy is done on Tuesday at Albany Medical Center.

Sienkiewycz says it's too early to rule out or rule in foul play.

In a press release, troopers said a body was found about 3 pm Friday near the Massena Industrial Park. Investigators are "searching missing persons databases," according to a release.

State police from the Troop B Forensic Identification Unit were called to the scene initially.

"Anyone who is aware of a missing person who has not been reported to law enforcement is asked to call the New York State Police at 518-897-2000," the release notes.
