Corriveau Formally Announces Plans To Retire

Watertown's city manager has made it official: she plans to leave her job in the next few months.

Mary Corriveau presented a letter to officials at Monday night's city council meeting, saying she plans to retire.

Some council members had hoped she would stay on through the summer to help with the city's budget for the next fiscal year and to ease the transition to a new city manager.

Corriveau said in the letter that since retirement is a form of resignation, she plans to retire on or before April 28, but no sooner than 30 days from the date of that letter.

The letter is dated February 6.

A majority of city council members voted last month not to renew Corriveau's contract when it expires later this year.
