A Calcium man and his wife face assault charges after the couple allegedly used "excessive corporal punishment" on their two children.

State police arrested 36 year old Bob Chatmon and his 34 year old wife, Sireka, of 26067 Jewett Place.

Bob Chatmon was charged with two counts of third-degree assault 3rd and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Sireka Chatmon was charged with one count each of third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Chatmons are accused of disciplining their 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son with excessive corporal punishment.

Police said the separate incidents occurred over the past two months at their residence.

Investigators said the alleged assaults were brought to police attention as a result of mandatory reporting rules.

Officials would not disclose the nature of the injuries, but said the children were taken to Samaritan Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

The children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.

The Chatmons were issued tickets to appear in LeRay Town Court on December 12 at 7 p.m.
