Couple Grows 'Pink' Pumpkins To Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

Pink is the color folks use to promote breast cancer awareness.

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it seems like pink is everywhere - including in the pumpkin patch.

A couple in the town of Alexandria grew and harvested the pink fruits.

"They're really more of a salmon color, but they're certainly not orange," said Suzanne Hunter.

Now Suzanne and Alan Hunter are selling the pinkish pumpkins at their roadside stand on Route 26.

Half the proceeds go towards cancer research.

"A lot of people have talked about it. People have bought them that either have a family member or a friend that's a survivor or has cancer," said Alan Hunter.

Regardless of what color you may call the pumpkins, the Hunters have plenty left for sale.
