Cuomo's Jobs Plan Proposes More GamingGov. Andrew Cuomo's jobs plan proposes to expand gaming, which could mean a Catskills casino, a new infrastructure repair fund, more tax credits for job growth and a job-training program. The proposal released Sunday to The Associated Press is Cuomo's response to an unexpected $350 million deficit this year and a projected $3.5 billion deficit in the 2010-13 fiscal year. Cuomo recommends reforming the tax code to make it "fair" and to promote economic growth. The Democrat led the Legislature to address a $10 billion deficit in April with a budget that cut spending. His jobs plan could be presented in a special session of the Legislature to be held as early as this week, or could be a centerpiece of his second year in office. -Associated Press |
