A Lewis County grand jury has indicted the county's former trails coordinator on three charges.
Robert Diehl was named in the indictment, handed up Friday in Lewis County court.
The charges are the same as the ones levelled against Diehl by the Lewis County Sheriff's Department in November - grand larceny, third degree, offering a false instrument for filing, first degree and official misconduct.
In February, the Lewis County legislature voted to fire Diehl.
Diehl is accused of submitting a bill to the county for $3,200 worth of gravel he used for his own driveway. At an administrative hearing in 2012, Diehl acknowledged he got the gravel, but said he billed the county for it by mistake.
As trails coordinator, Diehl frequently purchased gravel for the county's trail system. An administrative law judge recommended Diehl's punishment be suspension without pay for 60 days.
Diehl is scheduled to appear in county court next Friday.
