Diehl's Suspension Still A Mystery

Tools

What did Bob Diehl allegedly do to get him kicked off the job, at least temporarily, of overseeing Lewis County's ATV and snowmobile trails?

Last week, county officials said Diehl had been suspended without pay while an investigation was done by the sheriff's department.

Now Sheriff Mike Carpinelli says he has turned his department's findings over to county officials.

But it's still "no comment" from the county manager, legislature chairman, county attorney and district attorney, who say this is still a personnel issue.

While rumors abound, the official secrecy is so deep, the sheriff's department has been instructed not to comment.

A source says that order comes directly from the county attorney.

There's nothing yet from Diehl himself.

A six-year county employee, he can't be reached and it didn't look like he was home when we checked at his house in Martinsburg.
