Driver Airlifted Following Crash
A Watertown woman was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital following a one-car crash in Copenhagen early Thursday morning.
Lewis County sheriff's deputies say 20 year old Sierra Weston was driving north on State Route 12 and was just entering the village around 2:15 a.m. when her car crossed into the other lane, went off the road, and struck a utility pole.
The car traveled another 150 feet before coming to rest in front of a house, deputies say.
She was taken by helicopter to Upstate Medical University for treatment of unspecified injuries. She was listed in fair condition Thursday morning.
A passenger, 19 year old Lucinda Branch, also of Watertown, was treated at the scene and refused further medical attention.
Branch was charged with possession of alcohol by someone under age 21 and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Deputies say they are continuing to investigate.
