'Everybirdy' Welcome To Bid On These Houses

Tools

Birdhouses can come in a variety of shapes, styles and sizes and building them is becoming a growing hobby.

More than 75 birdhouses, hand-made and painted by local builders and artists, have been donated to the Ogdensburg Garden Club for sale as a fundraiser.

The unique designs, which include garden themes, facial expressions and more will be sold during a silent auction on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m at the Remington's 311 House on Washington Street.

The proceeds will be used to buy plants and flowers for several gardens the club maintains in the city:

"We asked local builders and everyday people to build houses and they agreed to build one and some of them built three or four for us and then we gave them two local artists to paint and decorate," said Ann Groome, garden club president.

Organizers say a large birdhouse quilt made by garden club member Debbie Bruyere will also be raffled off as part of the fundraiser.
