Ex-Girlfriend Testifies She Saw Smith Hit Baby

Both the prosecution and defense rested Tuesday afternoon at the trial of Willie Smith III.

He's the Pamelia man accused of beating his infant son last spring.

On Tuesday, Smith's ex-girlfriend and the baby's mother, Mary Ann Robinson, took the stand to testify against Smith.

She testified that on the night of May 30, 2013, she walked into her room to find Smith hitting the infant with a closed first three times.

Robinson said Smith told her, "If you tell anyone, I'm going to kill you."

The defense cross-examined her, pointing out inconsistencies with her statements to police and grand jury testimony.

Closing arguments will start Wednesday morning at 8:30.
