Explosives Disposal Team Called In, Homes Evacuated

Several homes on Watertown's Winslow street were evacuated and the street blocked off Saturday afternoon while Fort Drum's Explosive Ordinance Disposal team investigated a report of a live grenade inside a house.

No explosive was found.

A Watertown Police detective on the scene told 7 News the forced evacuations followed an incident in one Winslow street home where a male had to be taken out of the house. That man made some statements that caused concern and the military's explosives disposal team was called in.

All homes immediately surrounding the house in question were evacuated. And other neighbors told to stay inside.

The road reopened just after 4:30 p.m.
