Fallen Soldiers Statue Stolen

It's a tribute and a centerpiece of the Jefferson County hamlet of Omar.

Now, it's gone.

A Fallen Soldiers statue used to stand on what is called the Memorial Green.

But on New Year's Day, residents noticed the helmet, replica gun, boots and dog tags were missing.

While it's dedicated to soldiers, the statue has even more meaning for its creator, Tim Hall.

"We lost our daughter in 2008. The night before we put up the memorial, she had to have her picture taken with the gun and helmet on. The last picture we have of her was with the gun and helmet and we want it back," he said.

Hall says he is holding out hope the missing pieces will be found.

In the meantime, state police are handling the investigation.
