Father, Son Caught Allegedly Trying To Steal Scrap Metal

A father and son from the town of Ellisburg were charged after they were caught allegedly trying to steal scrap metal from the town's waste transfer site.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies say 48 year old Robert McNitt and his son, 26 year old Brandon McNitt, fled by foot into a nearby wooded area when patrols arrived.
 
They were caught by a state trooper on County Route 90.
 
They were each charged with trespassing and issued tickets to appear in Ellisburg town court at a later date.
