More than $200,000 in federal funding is headed for the north country to help support small businesses.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D. -NY) announced three rural economic development organizations are getting $203,600 to provide capital and other support for local small businesses.
The federal funding was allocated through the USDA's Rural Economic Business Enterprise Grant program (RBEG), which provides grants for rural projects that finance and facilitate development of small and emerging rural businesses.
- St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Corporation is receiving $14,600 for equipment to support the expansion of High Peaks Winery.
- The County of Lewis Industrial Development Agency is receiving $90,000 to help establish the Lewis County Revolving Loan Fund to provide better access to capital for local small businesses.
- Jefferson County Local Development Corporation is receiving $99,000 for equipment to support the startup of Clayton Distilling Co.
