Feedback: City Charges Mobile Home Fees for DPAO Concerts

The stage is almost set for Blake Shelton at the Watertown Fairgrounds.

The country music star will grace it in one of the most anticipated shows of the summer.

The stage isn't at issue though; it's where Shelton will be stay before the concert.

The city says it will charge the group putting on the concert, the Disabled Person's Action Organization, a fee to put these mobile homes on site for band members.

It'll cost the DPAO $20 a day if the homes have full water, sewer, electrical hook-ups.

It's $10 a day without full hook-ups.

So why would a small fee like that matter?

With several other concerts scheduled to take place there this summer, the plan was to leave the mobile homes at the fairgrounds - meaning that small fee could quickly add up.

The DPAO asked the city to waive the fees, but city council unanimously denied the request

"I don't know if it's really an RV. No one's there. We're just trying to do it to make it easier in terms of our shows that are coming up," said Joe Rich of the Disabled Person's Action Organization.

With new leaders in key positions throughout the city, DPAO officials say there is a need for more communication for big concerts like this.

"We've worked very well the new recreation department superintendent and the city council and the mayor and it's very much needed at this point," said Rich.

Despite any communication issues, they say the show must go on - and it will with all fees included.
