Feedback: Clarkson Eatery Offers Only Local Foods

Tools

Clarkson University's Main Street Grill is serving up a heaping helping of local pride.

All of the vegetables, meats and dairy products served at the on-campus eatery are produced within a 200 mile radius of the university.

The food includes Angus beef burgers supplied from Kilcoyne Farms in Brasher Falls and grilled free-range chicken breast from Wellington Farms in Ontario.

Then there's all the locally produced vegetables, breads and cheese.

Production Manager Mark Sharlow says the conversion to 100 percent local meat, produce and dairy products has been well received by the student population.

Keeping with the univeristy's green practices, the eatery dishes the food out onto china plates and will soon be turning to re-useable take-out containers that students will be able to exchange for a token to use on the next container.
