Feedback: Families Wait In Hotels For Creekwood's Completion

For nearly two weeks, a hotel room at Best Western Carriage House in Watertown has been home for Brittni Price and her one year old daughter, Zolin.

"We just want to be in our house. I want to be out of this hotel. This is an absolute terrible situation," said Brittni.

The situation is one with no end in sight.

That's because Creekwood Apartments isn't ready yet - despite officials telling Brittni, and at least four other families, they could move in nearly two weeks ago.

That didn't happen because the apartments weren't ready.

"Unfortunately there was some rushing and I think there was some miscommunication.  Our construction guys thought they were done, but they weren't and they're still working on it," said Linda Goodman, executive director of Norstar Development.

That means Brittni has to make the most of what she has, which isn't much because most of her things are in storage at Creekwood.

The developer, Norstar, is paying for the families stay at the hotel.

Still, Brittni says the last two weeks haven't been easy, especially its effect on Zolin.

"Her routine is upset, her naptime, everything's been thrown off. I can't go put her in the crib at noon for a nap. There's nowhere I can really go in the room where she can't see me," said Brittni.

To help, the staff has tried to make the hotel a little like home.

"Anything that they need, we've tired to help as much as we can to at least make their stay here as good as we possibly could make it," said Jeri McInnis, general manager of Best Western Carriage House.

So, when will Brittni and the other displaced families be able to move in to their apartments?

She has been told October 29, but she says she'll believe it when she's out of that hotel and unpacking in her new home.
