A Syracuse area family is hoping someone can help them with a mystery that's gone unsolved for 14 years.

In 1999, a man named Guy Pyke went missing. Tuesday marked the 14th anniversary of his disappearance.

His granddaughter, Jennifer Wood, is waging a campaign to bring renewed attention to the case.

Here's what the family knows: on April 2, 1999, Pyke, age 70, drove from his home on Howlett Hill just west of Syracuse to his cousin's house in Calcium, a little north of Watertown. He pulled into the driveway, then turned around and left, headed north on route 11.

"That was the last time anyone has seen or heard from him," Jennifer told 7 News reporter Caitlin Cissne.

Pyke is believed to have suffered from dementia. In 14 years, there has been no new information about Pyke or his1989 Chevrolet Blazer.

It's not for lack of trying: Jennifer  said the family has posted fliers, gone online, and even consulted a psychic to find out what happened to Guy.

"It's hard because we don't have answers, we don't have anything," she said.

The case belongs to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department. A detective there said information comes in periodically about an unidentified person and a detective follows up on the lead.

Since Guy Pyke disappeared, his wife and one of his sons have died. On their headstone is a space for Guy. The pyke family wants new information to help fill in the blank.

Some of his family members believe Guy could still be alive, others don't. Family members said they still look for him in crowds, and search for his car on the road.

The Border Patrol said there is no record of him crossing the border to Canada.

"Anybody, anything, we'd like to hear something," said Susan Wood, Guy's daughter.

If have any information about Guy Pyke, or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, you're asked to call the Onondaga Sheriff's office at 435-3081.
