Feedback: North Country Waits...And Waits For 4G Services

Smartphones, iPads, tablets - the wireless world is growing.

"It's rapidly becoming the main technology for wireless consumers and it's always growing," said John O'Malley of Verizon Wireless.

With so many people using the devices, wireless providers are working on something called 4G LTE - a network designed to make all your devices even faster.

"Basically, it's speeds. Our LTE speeds will be up to ten times faster," said Kevin DeWitt of AT&T Wireless.

Walk into any AT&T or Verizon Wireless store and it's tough not to see something on 4G LTE.

So, we've heard how 4G LTE will make everything faster.

But the big question is: when will it be available in the north country?

Verizon already offers it in certain areas of the country, including in central New York.

And the company plans to add the faster network throughout most of the country sometime this summer.

As for the north country - it has been talked about for a couple of years already.

But, Verizon is not committing to a date for the region.

"I can't say yet, whether...when we'll have LTE in the Watertown area. But our network team's hard at work," said O'Malley.

What about AT&T?

Actually, it already has a form of 4G in the area.

But as for the much faster LTE?

"It will be coming to the north country. We're working diligently on our network in the north country. Watertown, specifically, is very important to us. At this time, we don't exactly know when it will be," said DeWitt.

So, if you have the need for speed, 4G LTE speed, you're going to have to keep waiting to put the pedal to the metal - wirelessly speaking.
